WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT: LAURIE DAVIS
Over the past few years, I have shared with you that child and family-related needs are a focus of our family giving and in response to the unprecedented events caused by this global pandemic, this month I have donated half of my income to family-related charities to provide relief to those who are finding themselves in crisis situations. Through Brother Bills, I’ve donated groceries to families who now need them and through Mission Preborn I have purchased sonograms for mothers with unexpected pregnancies.
And now, Id like to team up with you to do more!
Over the last 4 years, I’ve become increasingly involved with the Social Innovation work of United Way of Metropolitan Dallas. As a judge for their annual Pitch event, I’ve seen firsthand how United Way’s Accelerator program helps our brightest and most compassionate social innovators build their businesses to create new ways to drive lasting impact in education, income, and health across our community.
The need for this work will be even more important in the coming months. That’s why I’d like to team up with you to raise funds for United Way of Metropolitan Dallas’ social innovation work so we can help more people get back to work, more students get back on track for learning, and support health and wellness across North Texas. Now is the time to seed and support innovation and innovators, like Get Shift Done – a cause that is offering immediate paid work to those in financial need. There are so many others who are making a difference right here, right now.
So what do I have in mind?
Over the weekend, I cleaned out my girls‘ closets and put aside everything that no longer fits, including gently-used shoes and clothing. I will be giving this collection of items, along with a one-on-one, 20-minute Zoom meeting, to a donor of this program.
As you guys have come to know, dressing my kids and documenting their lives brings me such joy. The baby and toddler wardrobe collection that I am giving away has been carefully curated over the last four years. My own mother dressed me every day and I love seeing the pictures of my childhood where I was clearly such a delight and priority to my parents (basing this on my grooming 😄). Seeing how my aunt painted my name on all of my keds, or pictures of the dresses my grandmother made for me to wear at Christmas, or the matching windsuits we wore as a family, visiting national parks…getting dressed for the occasion made the memories more special. I hope that by sharing this collection with one of you, it’ll bring fond memories for your children as well.
I did not hold anything back – all of the special pieces are there. With more than 80 outfits, 30 shoes, a hat, and a purse, here is a sneak peek at what all I am giving away. Tune into my IG TV (@AmberVenzBox) on Wednesday at 9am CST for the full collection.
So here is how it works: Starting now, head to UnitedWayDallas.org/AmberVenzBox and make a donation. 100% of your donation goes directly to United Way of Metropolitan Dallas and is tax-deductible. Every increment of $25 gives you an opportunity to be given the entire collection PLUS a 20-minute zoom meeting with me! Together, we can make a meaningful and immediate difference for families in need.
Donate now through May 5th and the United Way will choose a donor at random on May 6th. On the 7th, I will announce the winner on my Instagram @AmberVenzBox and will promptly ship the collection to that donor and schedule our 1-1 call.
