Early in our trip to Oaxaca, Mexico, we visited a recycled paper factory. The original red brick building sits above an arroyo and is spotted with cacti and agave plants.
The singular room, about 1,500 sq ft, houses everything from raw materials to finished products.
The region is known for mezcal. Most of the sellers in the area are family businesses and have a small yields so they do not brand their mezcal- hence the recycled paper bottle wrappers below.
There was a table of handmade jewelry in the center of the room. I bought one of the paper necklaces.
There are a lot of VW Bugs in Oaxaca. I spotted this blue one while leaving the factory.
