Last week I was invited to spend some time with Robert Rodriguez before his Spring 2011 presentation at Neiman Marucs and I fell in love. We spent half an hour in a dressing room laughing about fashion and Robert was not shy to poke a little fun at my interviewing skills. The outtakes are hilarious.
Robert’s family immigrated from Cuba to the states when he was a boy. He worked in his mother’s factory, declined her suggestion that he become a doctor, matriculated at FIT in New York and got his first job out of college at Christian Dior. When I asked if he had worked anywhere else, he replied, “what else is there?”
Watch this interview to get a glimpse of his adorably spirited humor and see what inspired him to bring that ’70s glamour back to the runway.
