AGGRESSIVE ACCESSORIZING

Over the weekend I stopped into the Nest for some Christmas shopping and came across these candle boxes that resemble violent weaponry. At $450, they are slightly outside of my candle budget but I feel a D.I.Y. coming on…

GIAMBATTISTA VALLI | FOR MACYS

Honestly, I have never been a huge fan of this mass retailer but Macy’s is winning me over quickly with their designer collaborations and diffusion lines (like Rachel Rachel Roy!)

Giambattista Valli came onto my love list when Mary Kate Olsen wore a leopard and cobalt look by the designer to Art of Esylum event last year. I have been steal hunting for a piece ever since.

PRE-HOLIDAY SHOPPING

This year I intend to have all of my Christmas gifts purchased before Thanksgiving, which means that I am making frequent and somewhat impulsive purchases. The theme this year: things they would not find for themselves.

Today I was introduced to Linda & Harriett, a stationary company out of Brooklyn. The husband and wife team behind L&H are incredibly talented and I know they are going to bring some visual pleasure to my closest people this winter.

ORGANIZED | INSPIRATION

A few months ago I told you about my Instagram addiction and while that stands, I have a new toy: Pinterest.

Pinterest is a digital pin board and it keeps all of the ideas and inspirations that I find online in one place. Instead of cutting up magazines (or in tandem with), I can keep all of my ideas in one place – not on my hard drive.

WATERCOLOR WORLD

world map large

One of my new blogger friends, Chassity, recently purchased this watercolor map for her baby’s nursery. The artist, Jessica, is based in Atlanta and has myriad fashion illustrations as well- all at very reasonable Etsy prices. I am on a cobalt binge and had to get one of the world maps for my home.

IN MY CART

luxeforless

I prefer (and recommend) collecting a wardrobe instead of purchasing it one all at once. With the latter, you tend to make purchases that are unnecessary and you fill your closet with garments that are not particularly wow.

Over the weekend I went shopping at the Need Supply and I left with two wardrobe builders: the Genevieve Big Neck Scarf (shown with this striped sweater) and the Jones Blouse.

COLOR THEORY

Sometimes achieving a where did you get that look is not about a new style or cut- a fresh, not so obvious color combination will get you the attention.

I created this dress for Bravo TV’s Courtney Kerr (as seen on last Monday’s episode of Most Eligible Dallas) and the halter-style and high front slit did not cause any fashion explosions- it was the color combination I chose that won Court best-dressed.

PICK OF THE DAY

Last night I went to the mall and found these pumps at Steve Madden. I stared for a little while, tried to instagram a picture so the rest of the world could indulge (but the lighting was too bad) and left with a pair for myself.

They slightly resemble Valentino but the sharper bow and stripper platform make this inspired version so much more VENZedits.
