MAYLE REPLACEMENT
I am always looking for the one-off piece of clothing and this shirt/ jacket combo fits the bill. I generally look for unusual details because (a) it makes your outfit interesting, and (b) rich details look rich. It is like having an amazing manicure- we all have manicures, but a good one gets noticed.
BIRTHDAY RECAP
Friday, June 24, was my golden birthday and I was given so many unique and thoughtful gifts. Thank you, everyone!
One of my favorite gifts was from Bailee, my boyfriend’s sister. She knows how obsessed I have been with the Hermes tray so she found me this set of prints from a Swedish dealer on Etsy.
FRUGAL FRIDAY: GET HER LOOK
I have been seeing these Prada platforms all over the web but in my opinion, Denni from the Chic Muse wore them best.
…Or maybe just her legs wore them best. I would not advise any clients to wear a shoe like that with an eyelet dress so if these caught your eye, try them with a pair of cropped pants or a bright dress so we can see the skinny ankle strap.
Get her look on a real girl budget with the Jeffrey Campbell version.
LIM LUST
I have never sold, discarded or trashed any of my Phillip Lim clothing. I always feel so well-dressed in his garments because there is such a difference in the quality and detail between his work and other designers; to me, he in on par with Proenza and Prada but still maintains a much less expensive price-point.
DOUBLE FEATURE
This month our GOTM, Mags, made the cover of D Weddings! This is not her first cover, but it is one of my favorites because it is a perfect depiction of her untainted, fresh presence.
LEATHER NOT LACE
I know you took one look at this graphic and thought, she has gone mad.
I have not.
Pieces like this are unnecessary but in fashion, it is the details that count. What kind of bra are you going to wear under a creamy sheer silk top? What about under a crochet tank? A regular bra is just skanky…
Layering with leather works for several reasons: 1. You are adding a texture and depth to your look; 2. It will seem as if you spent time on your look and were professionally styled; 3. No other girl will be wearing it.
I always invest in unique underpinnings so that if they show, they look smart and intentional. If you have not started your collection, begin with either color of this All Saints leather bra.
AND THE WINNER IS…
According to random.org, the winner of the Korcula giveaway is Sally McKinney! Here is how she plans to wear it:
Congrats, Sally!
FEATURED: STREETS OF SPARKLE
Last week I met my first Dallas street style blogger, Jaclyn, and was lucky enough to be snapped and featured on her site. You will want to check out Streets of Sparkle; her high-quality photography is just as inspiring as her subjects.
